TASTE THE WINE has often flattered to deceive over hurdles but stayed on strongly to win over a longer trip at Fontwell 10 days ago and may have turned over a new leaf. He'll take all the beating if in the same mood here, though Super Collider is on a hat-trick after victories at Uttoxeter and Bangor and deserves a tilt at this better race. No To Trident is often placed but likely to find at least one too good again.

Franklin Roosevelt bounced back from a poor run at Wetherby to win at Plumpton earlier this month and is one for the short-list here. Oscar Prairie shouldn't be dismissed out of hand if blinkers have the desired effect while Cardigan Island got back to winning ways at Bangor, though has a bit to find to overturn previous running here with SIR MATTIE. Paul Maloney has struck up a good understanding with David Rees' charge, who has become something of a track specialist and should again beat recent course winner Raduis Bleu on today's terms. He is the selection with Very Stylish and Mabel Tasman both returning from a spell on the sidelines and Whispering Jack needing to improve on his Worcester second to figure.

Sure Thing kept finding off the front end at Towcester last time having set a strong gallop. But he may not get his own way out in front here as several of his rivals also like to race up the pace. Exeter winner Fuzzy Logic is one and course and distance second Edgar Jones another and that may set the pace up for one of the hold-up horses. BELLS OF BERLIN came good over the longer trip at Wincanton last time and, on a line through Chilworth Screamer, appears to have the measure of Monderon. Argaum has the past form to figure but previous tries over this distance suggest he has stamina limitations.

Lola Galli is by Old Vic and Tom Scudamore has chosen her ahead of the more experienced Kid Wizzard but the pair to beat appear to be Oscars Way and SPRING STEEL. The former left a poor debut here behind him when runner-up on the Fibresand at Southwell but the latter's close second at Wincanton appears much stronger form and Jeremy Scott's gelding can go one better here. Man Of Steel may have place claims if improving a little on his sixth at Ludlow and none of the others make much appeal.
