Royal Lodge winner and 2,000 Guineas fifth Roaring Lion has the best form and a lot will hinge on whether he will stay on this first run beyond 1m. There is marginally more optimism than pessimism about that but WELLS FARHH GO could be a better prospect for this sort of trip as 7f looked to be an absolute minimum when he won the Group 3 Acomb Stakes here last August. As well as Roaring Lion, 2015 and 2016 Dante-winning trainer John Gosden runs Crossed Baton, who is respected having won last time in the Epsom Trial, in which James Cook was fourth but could get closer on this flat track. In a renewal in which a case can be made for most, Mildenberger and Nordic Lights also have the potential to run well, with Merlin Magic an interesting outsider.[Ben Hutton]
