Japan vs Cameroon – teams announced

Published:

Arsenal midfielder Alex Song is the most notable absentee for Cameroon as they face Japan in their opening World Cup match, which kicks off at 3pm.

Despite persistent doubts about his commitment to his country, Samuel Eto’o captains the side. The Inter Milan forward is a very attractive 4/1 to score first.

Japan, meanwhile, have opted for a five-man midfield as they look to stifle Eto’o and his fellow forwards Achille Webo and Maxim Choupo-Moting.

Cameroon are 11/10 favourites for this fixture, while Japan are 5/2 outsiders.

The confirmed starting line-ups are:

Japan: Kawashima; Komano, Tulio, Nagatomo, Nakazawa; Abe, Endo, Honda, Matsui, Hasebe (Captain); Okubo

Cameroon: Souleymanou; Mbia, Nkoulou, Bassong, Assou Ekotto; Matip, Makoun, Eyong; Choupo-Moting, Webo, Eto’o (Captain)
