Holland vs Brazil – bad day at the office for Felipe Melo

Published:

As previously pointed out, the World Cup quarter-finals tend to feature at least one upset, and this time around, it came rather earlier – and was probably more upsetting – than expected.

Brazil went into the match as the hot favourites to win the whole competition with odds of 9/4, to Holland’s 7/1, making for a big shuffle at the top, with the men in orange now fancied at 2/1.

Felipe Melo looks the most likely to become the shamed face of the South American side, after following an own goal early in the second half, by receiving a straight red for stamping on Arjen Robben.

Sure enough, Holland went on to take the game 2-1.
