Huddersfield and Charlton ready to display promotion credentials

Huddersfield and Charlton are among the leading contenders to secure promotion from League One this season and are preparing for an intriguing clash at the Galpharm Stadium.

Both lost out at the semi-final stages in the play-offs last season, with Charlton in particular making a bright start to the present campaign.

They are one of four teams to sit on seven points at the head of the league after three games, which has left them 11/1 to win League One.

Huddersfield are 9/2 despite sitting three points off the pace and they struggled to break down a dogged Tranmere in their only home game to date in a goalless draw.

They are 11/10 to beat Charlton, although the visitors may aim to take advantage of some tiredness in the Huddersfield ranks after their 5-1 defeat away at Everton in the Carling Cup.

The corresponding fixture finished 1-1 between the pair last season and a repeat is priced at 11/2.

Sheffield Wednesday are also on seven points and they face a tricky away clash at unbeaten Hartlepool.

The Owls may have too much firepower with the likes of Clinton Morrison and Neil Mellor at their disposal and can be backed at 5/4 to continue their impressive start.

Morrison is the 5/1 favourite to score the first goal, with Mellor 6/1 after coming off the bench to net a late equaliser at Colchester in their previous away game in League One.

Dagenham and Redbridge are the only team in the division still without a point and they travel to Tranmere, who are positioned one place above them in the league.

The Essex side are 11/10 to win their first home game of the campaign, although the 8/1 offered for the 0-0 could prove lucrative as the pair have only scored one goal between them so far.

Southampton are the 3/1 favourites to seal promotion to the Championship as winners of League One. See the entire League One winners market.
