Morgan set to provide more pace in Chesterfield attack

John Sheridan feels that new recruit Dean Morgan has the pace and talent to help Chesterfield in their challenge to seal promotion to League One this season.

Chesterfield are 12/1 to win the League Two title and have got off to a bright start by collecting four points from their opening two games.

Morgan missed the deadline to be involved in the recent fixture against Port Vale, but is available to feature in the Spireites’ next home game against Hereford after completing his free transfer.

Speaking to the Sheffield Star, Sheridan said: “He’s good on the ball and can score a few goals playing wide or anywhere up front and will cause the opposition some problems.

“His career has gone a bit quiet but I’ve seen him play, three or four years ago, and potentially he’s got lots to offer.”

Morgan was released by Milton Keynes Dons at the end of last season and has made over 250 league appearances during his career through spells at clubs including Colchester, Reading, Luton and Leyton Orient.

Meanwhile, he also spent a short period on loan at Aldershot in League Two last season and displayed his talents by scoring four goals in nine games.

Chesterfield are 4/5 to retain their 100 per cent league record at their new B2net Stadium with victory over Hereford.

Despite playing primarily in midfield, Dwight Mattis has started the season in inspired form and netted in both league games so far against Barnet and Port Vale.

However, teammate Jack Lester is the favourite to finish as the club’s top scorer and is 12/1 to end the season with the most goals in League Two.

Chesterfield lost their home game against Hereford 2-1 last season with a repeat priced at 14/1. See the whole correct score market.
