Remy snubs Premier League for new start in Marseille
Published:He has been linked to no fewer than five Premier League clubs, including Liverpool and Arsenal, but Loic Remy has ended any speculation of a move to England after signing a five year deal with Marseille, worth a reported £1.5m a year.
A visit to Stoke earlier in the summer seemingly put-off the Frenchman of a move to England, paving the way for the French champions to pay €15.5m for the 23-year-old who has netted 25 times for Nice over the past two seasons.
With Kenwyne Jones nursing ankle ligament damage suffered in his Premier League debut for Stoke, and three first team strikers who only mustered 15 goals between them in all competitions last season, the addition of Remy would’ve proved a big hit with the Stoke fans.
Instead Tony Pulis has turned his attention to Hugo Rodallega, valued at £9m by Wigan, to solve the clubs problems in the penalty box.
The loss of Rodallega would be a huge blow to Wigan who suffered a dismal 4-0 defeat to Blackpool on the opening day of the season, and with the visit of Chelsea to the DW Stadium looming, Wigan are major contenders for relegation and offer great value at 5/4.
In the meantime Rodallega continues to be a Wigan player and he is a best price 7/2 to open his season account against Chelsea, a team against whom he holds previous, scoring in the corresponding fixture last season.
However, a price of 100/1 would see only the most ardent of Wigan fans investing anything in seeing Rodallega topping the scoring charts come the end of the season.
