Sheff Wed showcase title credentials by beating Brighton

Published:

Sheffield Wednesday have responded well to a tricky period in which they suffered relegation from the Championship and chairman Lee Strafford resigned and are joint-top of League One after a 1-0 victory over previously unbeaten Brighton.

Owls fans won’t be getting too carried away just yet though because the last time they dropped into League One in 2003-04 they started in identical fashion, only to finish the campaign in 16th.

Manager Alan Irvine isn’t the kind to let complacency creep in though and having handled the transition fairly well, many will now consider them a great bet at 4/1 to end the season top of the table.
