Wadsworth takes charge as Turner leaves position at Hartlepool

Published:

Mick Wadsworth has been placed in temporary charge of Hartlepool after Chris Turner resigned with immediate effect from his position as Director of Sport.

Turner had been in charge of first-team duties since December 2008 and managed to keep the club in League One last season despite being handed a three-point penalty by the Football League after Gary Liddle was picked when he was supposed to be serving a suspension.

Hartlepool have also made a promising start to the current campaign through eliminating Sheffield United from the first round of the Carling Cup and drawing both of their league fixtures.

Wadsworth will have the responsibility of maintaining this unbeaten record when Hartlepool travel to Yeovil for their next League One encounter.

They are 12/5 to collect the victory and the same price to claim their third successive draw.

Wadsworth will have to do without defender Neil Austin who is sidelined with an ankle injury, while Richie Humphreys is still short of match fitness despite playing 45 minutes in a recent reserve game as part of his comeback from an Achilles problem.

He will hoping to avoid a repeat of the result from the corresponding game in League One last season when Yeovil romped to a 4-0 success.

It is 40/1 for the same outcome this time, with Dean Bowditch, who struck the fourth goal last year, the favourite to open the scoring at 5/1.

Adam Boyd is one of Hartlepool’s most potent threats and he is 6/1 to break the deadlock.

A goalless draw can be backed at 9/1. See the complete Yeovil vs Hartlepool Match Betting market.
