Crewe’s injury free striker Calvin Zola is goal-hungry on his return
Calvin Zola’s 15 goals in 30 league games last season helped Crewe Alexandra draw clear of the relegation zone, and his return to the side is sure to be a boost as Dario Gradi looks to reverse the clubs fortunes.
Zola’s goals dried up towards the end of the last campaign after spending most of the second half of the season on the treatment table, but he’s recovered from knee-ligament surgery and is ready to find his scoring touch again.
The centre-forward is 20/1 to top the League Two goalscoring charts this season but has some catching up to do, as Rotherham’s Adam Le Fondre, 11/4, already has six goals in his five appearances.
Crewe have had an average start to the season with five points from five games and the railwaymen faithful will be hoping their star forward can find his Midas touch in time for their game with seventh placed Bury on Saturday.
Zola is 11/2 to get the first goal and spur Crewe onto victory, they are 7/5 whilst Bury are 9/5.
However last season Bury won both encounters against Crewe, scoring three goals in both games and are unbeaten in four games this season, with two wins and two draws.
Crewe had Billy Jones and Patrick Ada sent off against the shakers last season and Gradi knows that can’t happen this season if Crewe want to come away the three points.
Bury to win 1-0 at Gresty Road is 7/1. See the full next League Two football betting market here.
