Cup heroes Northampton add to slow-starting Bradford’s woes

| 26.09.2010

Any disappointment that Northampton felt after being forced to settle for a trip to Championship club Ipswich in the Carling Cup fourth round draw was well hidden as they completed a fine week with a 2-0 victory over Bradford.

Second-half goals from Anfield hero Billy McKay and on-loan Newcastle defender Ben Tozer saw the Cobblers climb to 13th, just one point shy of the play-offs, but left supposed promotion contenders Bradford third-bottom with only Barnet and Hereford below them.

Peter Taylor’s side again proved incapable of building any momentum and, after picking up their second victory of the season against his former team Gillingham last week, provided very little resistance in falling to their fifth defeat.

The Bantams are now 25/1 to win the title while Port Vale – who climbed top of the table after handing Accrington their first loss of the campaign – are 5/1 favourites.
