Hoffenheim vs Bayern – Toothless visitors need goals

| 21.09.2010

Hoffenheim will fancy their chances of securing a first Bundesliga win over Bayern Munich as last season’s Champions League finalists continue to struggle for goals.

Munich have been toothless in attack in their last three Bundesliga outings, which is the first time since the 1997/98 season that they have encountered such a barren streak in front of goal.

This run has seen them slip seven points adrift of current table toppers Mainz, but the strength of Bayern’s squad means that they are still 8/15 to win the Bundesliga this season.

Furthermore, they are 10/11 to claim just their second victory of the season and a first success at Hoffenheim.

Both previous Bundesliga meetings between the pair at Hoffenheim have ended in draws, despite Bayern scoring first in each, and it is 9/4 that it will finish all-square again.

Hoffenheim are still unbeaten in their four games this season and have won both of their home games, which makes their odds of 12/5 to beat Bayern Munich tempting.

Meanwhile, Hoffenheim have scored in all of their Bundesliga games, meaning that Bayern may face a stern test to leave with a clean sheet.

Arjen Robben is still unavailable for Bayern because of a hamstring injury, but he is the only injury concern.

Thomas Mueller is responsible for one of Munich’s two league goals this season and will be among their leading hopes of finding the target and is likely to form part of an attacking quartet alongside Miroslav Klose, Franck Ribery and Toni Kroos.

Chinedu Obasi, who scored against Bayern last season, is still out for Hoffenheim, with young starlet Peniel Mlapa expected to feature in attack.

Hoffenheim can be backed at 8/1 to continue their fine Bundesliga start with a 1-0 victory. See the whole Hoffenheim vs Bayern Munich match betting market.
