Pericard to take on more prominent role to spearhead Swindon’s attack

| 16.09.2010

Swindon will be relying on the experience of Vincent Pericard to continue to score the goals that keep them in contention for League One promotion this season.

Charlie Austin found the net 20 times last season to fire Swindon into the League One play-offs and began the current campaign brightly by scoring three of their six league goals to date.

However, he dislocated his shoulder in the recent win over Southampton after scoring the only goal of the game and now could be ruled out until close to Christmas.

This leaves Pericard as their chief threat in front of goal and his spell leading the line is set to begin away at Walsall, where he will be partnered in attack by either David Ball or Thomas Dossevi.

Swindon have failed to win all of their three away games, but are 13/8 to end this run at Walsall, with Pericard and Dossevi both 11/2 to be the game’s first goalscorer.

Pericard is now almost assured to get a regular run in the first team at Swindon and these guaranteed games could make him good value at 50/1 to end the season as the top scorer in League One.

Both fixtures between Swindon and Walsall ended 1-1 last season and it is 11/2 that the result will end this way again.

Walsall have lost their last four games in all competitions and are 6/4 to remember how to win against Swindon. See the whole Walsall vs Swindon match betting market.
