West Brom vs Tottenham Hotspur – Baggies need home wins

| 11.09.2010

The international break has affected Tottenham Hotspur more than most, they’ve lost Jermain Defoe and Michael Dawson to injury and could possibly lose their manager in 2012.

Fabio Capello’s decision to stand down as England manager after the 2012 European Championships has seen Harry Redknapp’s mind wander this week, with thoughts of taking on the role at the forefront of his mind.

His desire to take the England job is well known, and his presence in the media this week could suggest Redknapp is more focused on England than a tricky away tie to West Brom on Saturday.

West Brom will certainly be hoping that is the case as Baggies manager Roberto Di Matteo knows that home games will be crucial in their fight for survival.

Since their mauling at the hands of Chelsea on the first day of the season, West Brom have responded well, beating Sunderland at home and losing to Liverpool by the solitary goal.

But Di Matteo knows they’ll have to improve their scoring record, they have just the one goal in five Premier League games, if they are to take all three points – they are 5/2 to do so.

Rafael Van der Vaart and William Gallas are both in line to make their debuts for Spurs and Redknapp will hope Van der Vaart can assist Gareth Bale in supplying Peter Crouch with goal scoring chances.

Despite odds of 11/10, Spurs haven’t won at the Hawthorns in four attempts, those four games all saw two goals scored and the value of the market is 4/5 for there to be under 2.5 goals.

The draw is 23/10 and Redknapp will take that ahead of their Champions League clash with Werder Bremen in Germany on Tuesday. See the full West Bromwich Albion vs Tottenham Hotspur match betting market here.
