Bayern vs Cluj – Romanians may struggle on first trip to Germany

Published:

Bayern Munich’s impressive recent record on home soil in the Champions League means that CFR Cluj face a mammoth task to stop the Germans continuing to dominate Group E.

Munich have already beaten Roma in Germany and triumphed away to Basle to sit atop Group E on six points and Cluj are the next challengers to attempt to break their 100 per cent winning start.

Louis van Gaal’s team have won their last five home games in the Champions League and are 1/4 to beat Cluj.

Cluj’s recent away form in Europe does not inspire much confidence as they have lost six of their last seven games on the road.

The Romanians are 11/1 to beat Bayern on their first trip to Germany and cause one of the biggest shocks in the competition to date this season.

Mario Gomez scored a hat-trick in Bayern’s most recent domestic game and he may be fancied to transfer this form to Europe.

Gomez is 3/1 to open the scoring against Cluj.

Roma will be looking to keep up the pressure on Bayern with victory in the other Group E clash where they entertain Basel.

The duo met in the Europa League last season and both witnessed success at home, with Roma claiming a 2-1 triumph at the Stadio Olimpico.

Roma have never failed to beat a Swiss side in the Italian capital and are 4/7 to beat Basel to extend this run.

Basel are 11/2 to end this sequence, while the draw which would hand the Swiss side their first point in the group can be backed at 13/5.

Francesco Totti has scored in both of Roma’s last two home games with Basel and is 5/1 to break the deadlock.

A repeat of Roma’s 2-1 victory last season is available at 7/1. See the whole Roma vs Basel match betting odds market.
