Bet on Arsenal vs Birmingham – Gunners will cut down Blues

Published:

The last time Birmingham won at Arsenal was in 1957 and in spite of the Gunners’ injury epidemic, you wouldn’t expect that to change this weekend.

Match Odds

Arsenal are 3/10 to beat Birmingham, but have lost their last two league games, including their last home game 3-2 to West Brom, so the odds of 10/1 on a Birmingham win aren’t as long as they might have been.

In their last six meetings, the Gunners have won three times and the other games have been drawn.

That includes a 1-1 last season at St Andrews and 2-2 the season before, in the game that saw Eduardo’s horrific leg break eight minutes in.

Three draws in the team’s last four meetings is enough for the odds to only be 4/1 on it being all square on Saturday.

To Score At Any Time

Theo Walcott is fit to start the game and is 11/8 to score anytime, whilst Nicklas Bendtner, at 1/1, is also a player to consider.

Walcott has four so far this campaign and was in devastating form before his injury.

If Arsenal are winning comfortably, then it could be worth having a punt on Carlos Vela and the diminutive Mexican is rated at 6/5 to score at any time, which should lengthen if he starts on the bench.

Twice this season when the Gunners have been four goals to the good, Vela has come on and scored and would be a good bet to do so again after Arshavin, Nasri and Chamakh have run the Birmingham defence ragged.

Birmingham have been goal shy so far this season, they’ve only scored seven times and three of those have come from the suspended Craig Gardner.

Cameron Jerome at 4/1 is the only Blues striker to have scored this season, but Aleksandr Hleb returns to Arsenal and he’s 5/1 to score against his former club.

Samir Nasri is 6/4 to score against Birmingham, follow the full Arsenal vs Birmingham match betting odds market here.
