Modric – We can win at Old Trafford against Manchester United

Published:

The last time Tottenham won at Old Trafford the only goal of the game was scored by Gary Lineker.

But according to midfielder Luka Modric, Spurs have as good a chance as they’ve ever had to win at the Theatre of Dreams this season.

Their form is certainly good enough, with only one loss in their last six games.

Speaking to the Spurs official website, Modric was upbeat as he talked up their chances of victory against Manchester United.

“We’re ready, why not?” he said.

“We showed against Inter in the second half that we can compete with the best teams in the world and United is certainly one of the best teams in the world.”

The Croat also said he was unconcerned by Spurs’ poor record away to Manchester United.

“But why not go there and try to win? I know Tottenham haven’t won at Old Trafford for a long time, so why not now? It’s the best stage to play, the best stadium and it will be a great game for us. I hope we can do something there,” he noted.

The game is the Premier League’s late kick-off on Saturday and the last time the two sides met in this slot, seven goals flew in.

Spurs were 2-0 up at the break, with Modric himself on the scoresheet, only for United to roar back in the second half and win 5-2.

United won both Premier League games against Spurs 3-1 last season and you can get odds of 10/1 on that happening again.

Even better is 13/8 on there being more than 3.5 goals, which has happened the last three times they’ve met.

However many goals go in, Spurs, at 9/2, will do very well to win, especially with United unbeaten this season and made 8/13 to make it 12 winless years for Spurs at Old Trafford.
