Napoli vs Liverpool – Hodgson takes second string to Italy
The Premier League is definitely Roy Hodgson’s priority this season as he prepares to send out a second string Liverpool side for their tie with Napoli in the Europa League on Thursday.
Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres are rested for the game and Hodgson is also without Daniel Agger and Glen Johnson due to injury.
Liverpool have made an unbeaten start to this European campaign, but left their only away encounter with a point after a dour encounter which may be repeated in a match Liverpool are 13/5 to win.
Napoli currently lie fourth in Serie A and have lost just one of their eleven games this season and the 1/1 offers value for the home win.
Liverpool’s main problem this season has been their lack of strength in depth but the likes of Ryan Babel, Joe Cole and David Ngog can help them gain a result in Italy and the draw is available at 12/5.
Liverpool have scored just seven goals in eight league games this season, but top scorer Ngog will get the full 90 minutes to prove himself and he is 7/4 to score any time and increase the pressure on Fernando Torres.
Napoli have only won one of their three home games, 2-0 against Roma, but have scored 15 goals in their last six games.
However, under 2.5 goals is available at 4/6 and is worth taking in what’s likely to be another poor performance from Liverpool.
Utrecht vs Steaua Bucharest
With home advantage, Utrecht are 4/5 to win and that seems a decent price considering Steaua’s awful form.
The Romanian club have won just twice in nine games and are 7/2 to come away with all three points.
A Utrecht win would put pressure on Liverpool at the top of Group K and Utrecht are 9/1 to top the group. See the full UEFA Europea League football betting odds market here.
