Bednar signing gives Leicester big boost ahead of Forest clash

Sven-Goran Eriksson’s signing spree continued today as he completed a loan deal for out of favour West Brom forward Roman Bednar.

The Swede has already snapped up Kyle Naughton, Curtis Davies and Greg Cunningham on temporary deals since his arrival in October, as well as Darius Vassell as a permanent signing .

Bednar signed for the Baggies in June 2008 for £2.3m from Hearts and bagged 11 goals in 21 Championship starts for the Baggies last term, but has failed to make an impact in the Premier League this season.

He scored against Forest last season during their 3-1 defeat at the hands of Billy Davies’ side and could be a very tidy bet to be on target again this Monday. Since that victory, Forest have only won twice in 20 Championship away games, although they did see off second placed Cardiff 2-0 last weekend.

Backing the Foxes – who have now gone five matches at home without tasting defeat – at 6/5 for the win on Monday night could certainly be worth a bet with the added firepower of Bednar to call upon.

The arrival of Bednar will increase speculation that Matt Fryatt is set to leave the Walker’s Stadium, with Hull rumoured to be interested in signing him.
