Borriello wants to see a more ruthless Roma in Serie A

Marco Borriello feels that further improvements will still be witnessed at Roma once the team learns to become more ruthless in front of goal.

Roma were expected to challenge at the head of the Serie A standings after finishing second last season, but got off to a slow start in the current campaign under Claudio Ranieri.

However, four wins from their last five league games has seen them rapidly progress up the table into sixth spot, five points behind leaders AC Milan.

The latest of these victories came against Fiorentina, but despite scoring three goals, Borriello feels that Roma still need to become more clinical in goal-scoring positions.

He is hopeful that this new streak will begin to become more apparent when they face fellow title challengers Juventus next.

Borriello said: “We are too wasteful, me included. We have to become merciless. Ranieri is right. He is a great motivator.

“Now we must get ready for Juventus. We are motivated. We can do it.”

Roma can take confidence from the fact that they beat Juventus away in Serie A last season, although this was their first league victory at the Delle Alpi in seven attempts.

Borriello has made a solid start to his Roma career and will fancy his chances of adding to his goals tally against Juventus.

If he can score for the third Roma Serie A game in succession and for the sixth time in 11 games this season it will substantially boost their chances of securing victory and Roma are 5/2 to beat Juventus.

However, Juventus are unbeaten in seven Serie A games and are 11/10 to take the three points.

Juventus are the top scorers in Serie A this season after 11 games as they have found the net on 22 occasions. See the full Juventus vs Roma match betting odds market.
