Boruc to get chance at Fiorentina as Frey suffers serious injury

| 03.11.2010

Artur Boruc is going to get the chance to prove himself at Fiorentina after number one goalkeeper Sebastien Frey is set to miss the remainder of the Serie A season because of injury.

Frey has started all nine of Fiorentina’s games to date but was injured in training and scans have revealed that he suffered a cruciate ligament problem which will require surgery to repair.

The injury is becoming increasingly common at Fiorentina as Stevan Jovatic picked up a similar injury before the season kicked off and was told to expect a six-month stint on the sidelines.

Frey’s injury will hamper Fiorentina’s title-winning prospects, but for Boruc it is a chance to gain an extended run in the first team following his arrival in the summer from Celtic.

Fiorentina are one of the more inconsistent teams in Serie A this season and the fact that they have won just twice in their nine league games is one reason why they are just one point off the foot of the table.

Sinisa Mihajlovic’s team were 33/1 to win Serie A before the season began, but their disappointing start which has left them with 13 points to make up on Lazio has seen this price rise to 250/1.

On a more positive note, they have been able to welcome back Adrian Mutu to action after a drugs ban and he will be keen to start finding the scoresheet again in Fiorentina’s next Serie A game at home to Chievo.

Fiorentina are 8/11 to beat Chievo and they will want to make amends for the two league defeats they suffered against the opposition last season.

Chievo are 10/3 to take the three points that will allow them to build on their strong start which has seen them featuring prominently in seventh in the Serie A standings. See the full Fiorentina vs Chievo match betting odds market.
