Chelsea Champions League betting

| 01.11.2010

They were favourites in the Champions League betting to qualify top of their group, and the Chelsea betting odds looked to have been spot on as they secured comfortable progression from Group F.

Anyone who placed a bet on Chelsea to win the group will have been delighted as they qualified for the second round following comfortable wins against Žilina, Marseille and a couple of victories against Spartak Moscow.

The Chelsea betting odds for them to win the Champions League for the first time are now 9/2 following their straightforward group campaign. Chelsea are third favourites in the Champions League betting behind Spanish duo Barcelona and Real Madrid.

However, for a bet on Chelsea to win the Champions League to come to fruition, the Blues will need their front men firing.
Didier Drogba may be the first name that comes to mind when thinking of someone in the Chelsea betting odds to finish as top scorer, but it’s Nicolas Anelka who is looking the most likely to finish top of the pile out of the Blues’ strikers.

The Frenchman has bagged five goals already in the competition, compared to Drogba’s single strike, and is third favourite at 6/1 behind Lionel Messi and Samuel Eto’o to finish as Champions League top scorer.

With the former Arsenal man in such fine form, a bet on Chelsea’s temperamental striker could be well worth a couple of quid. And, if he continues his good European form, there’s no reason that you shouldn’t consider a bet on Chelsea to win the Champions League outright.

Barcelona are the current favourites to win the Champions League. For the full Champions League betting market, click here.
