Milan vs Real Madrid – Mourinho back on old stomping ground

Published:

Jose Mourinho is preparing to make a swift return to the San Siro just five months after leaving Inter Milan as his new club Real Madrid prepare for their latest Champions League outing against AC Milan.

Mourinho knows that a draw would virtually guarantee Madrid a spot in the knockout stages of the competition after they won their opening three Group G games.

However, Mourinho will want to preserve his unbeaten record since taking over at Madrid and they are 11/8 to beat Milan.

Furthermore, the former Chelsea boss had a solid record against Milan during his two years at Inter, winning in three of their four meetings and losing the other.

Milan may be buoyed by the fact that Madrid have failed to win on their last five trips to Italy and have lost on 17 of their 27 career visits.

Madrid have also lost five of their six overall away games with Milan and the home side are 2/1 to gain the three points that would put them in the driving seat to qualify for the knockout stages in second spot from Group G.

If Milan lose, Ajax could do their qualification prospects the world of good by winning away at Auxerre.

Auxerre have lost all of their three group games to date and another defeat would almost certainly confirm that they will finish at the foot of the group.

A win would give them a slip hope of reaching the last 16 and they are 6/4 to beat Ajax.

The visitors are 9/5 to triumph over Auxerre for the second time in as many weeks following their 2-1 in Holland.

In Auxerre’s favour is the fact that they have won four of their seven home games with Dutch opposition, although their solitary defeat did come against Ajax. See the full Auxerre vs Ajax match betting odds market.
