Nine-goal Tevez is the 5/2 favourite to be Prem’s top scorer

| 23.11.2010

Carlos Tevez is the new favourite to finish top scorer in the Premier League this season at 5/2 and he has been praised by Manchester City teammate David Silva for his performances so far in the campaign.

Tevez scored twice in the 4-1 win over Fulham, which took him to the head of the scoring charts with nine goals from the opening 14 games of the season.

The display also earned the compliments of Silva, who took the opportunity to compare Tevez to his former Valencia teammate David Villa in terms of the massive impact they have on their respective clubs.

Silva said: “Carlos is a great striker, one of the best I have played with.

“David Villa tends to go more to the wings and look for the spaces behind the defence, whereas Carlos works in the centre channel and also holds the ball in front for us so we can play.

“They are both great goalscorers.”

Tevez is responsible for almost half of Manchester City’s 19 Premier League goals this season and it is safe to say that they would already be largely out of the title picture without his contribution.

Roberto Mancini’s men are only three points off top spot in the Premier League and this has left Manchester City’s betting odds at 9/1 to win the title.

Tevez will be keen to continue his hot scoring form and City will be looking to remain in title contention in their next Premier League outing away at Stoke.

Manchester City are 11/10 to beat Stoke, but have not won in their last three away fixtures against the opposition.

However, Tevez has found the target in both of his last two games against Stoke, with one of these goals coming for his former club Manchester United.

Stoke are 2/1 to make it four Premier League victories in succession by beating Manchester City. See the full Stoke vs Manchester City football betting odds market.
