Scotland vs Faroe Islands – Faroes searching for first win in a year

| 16.11.2010

The Faroe Islands have already upset one British nation in recent months and there is every chance that Scotland may be in line to suffer the same difficulties as those experienced by Northern Ireland.

Match Odds

Scotland have already made hard work of winning at home to Liechtenstein in recent months and there is no reason to suggest that things will be any easier against the Faroes.

Manager Craig Levein is going to have to win the friendly with largely what will be a second-string side as some players have been given a rest, while nine squad players have pulled out with injury.

Scotland have won their last three meetings against the Faroe Islands, including a 6-0 Euro 2008 Group B qualifying victory at Celtic Park.

Also in their favour is that they won their last their previous friendly to take place at Pittodrie in 2007 against South Africa, although they have only triumphed in one of their eight friendlies since.

Scotland are 1/8 to beat the Faroe Islands, who are searching for a first victory in over a year.

They may be buoyed by their recent draw with Northern Ireland during their Euro 2012 qualifying campaign and a repeat of this result against Scotland is priced at 8/1.

Meanwhile, it is 14/1 that the Faroe Islands cause the ultimate shock and beat Scotland.

To Score At Any Time

With so much chopping and changing going on in the Scotland squad, it is difficult to work out what team Levein will begin with.

Kris Commons has been in fine scoring form in the Championship for Derby and there is no reason to suggest why he cannot carry this onto the international stage.

Commons is 2/1 to score at any time against the Faroe Islands, while David Goodwillie is 1/1 to strike on his international debut after being called up by Levein following his run of eight goals in 11 games for Dundee United.

Brian Kerr is currently in charge of the Faroe Islands and he led the Republic of Ireland to a friendly win in Scotland in 2003. See the full Scotland vs the Faroe Islands match betting odds market.
