Charlton vs Southampton – Draw looking likely outcome at 12/5

Charlton’s knack of drawing on Boxing Day could result in Southampton collecting a useful point at the Valley as both teams look to remain in the League One promotion picture.

Phil Parkinson’s club have been consistent at home this season, scoring the same number of goals that they have conceded.

And this is likely to remain the same following the Boxing Day visit of Southampton, with the draw between the pair priced at 12/5.

Charlton have drawn for the past four seasons in their Boxing Day round of fixtures and on three of these occasions entertaining games have finished 2-2.

Betting odds of 14/1 are given on their clash with Southampton ending 2-2, while the last four games between the pair at Charlton have also ended all square.

Those expecting one of the teams to take the three points can get 7/5 on Charlton collecting the victory or 9/5 that Southampton secure a fourth away league win of the season.

Oldham are just one of two League One teams still to taste defeat at home and Carlisle are the next team to arrive at Boundary Park looking to end this streak.

However, the omens do not look good for a Carlisle victory as they have failed to win at Oldham in any of their last ten visits, since a 3-2 success in 1984.

Carlisle’s betting odds are 13/5 to beat Oldham this time, with the hosts 1/1 to land the spoils.

Mid-table Hartlepool have the meanest away defence in League One and their Boxing Day fixture sees them travel to Huddersfield, who need the three points to maintain the pressure on table-toppers Brighton.

Hartlepool have let in just six goals across their ten away games and three of these came at Colchester.

Huddersfield will want to emulate Colchester’s display and they are 4/6 to beat Hartlepool, while the away side are 9/2, despite not having won at Huddersfield in their last four visits.

A £10 bet on Huddersfield beating Hartlepool 3-0 could lead to a return of £110. New Ladbrokes customers can sign up here for a free £10 bet.
