Fulham v Sunderland – Cottagers to inch away from trouble

| 10.12.2010

Steve Bruce’s Sunderland travel south to face a Fulham side teetering on the edge of the relegation places.

The Cottagers are without a win in six games and have won just one of their last 12 matches in the Premier League. It’s a run that has seen them slip to fourth from bottom – level on points with Wigan who occupy the final relegation spot.

Despite their dreadful run though, Fulham’s home record isn’t quite as bad you would imagine. The Cottagers have only lost twice at home this season in eight league games. However, they have drawn half of those matches.

While Fulham have been falling, Sunderland have been flying. The Black Cats have lost just two of their previous 11 games and have climbed to seventh in the table – just three points behind Tottenham Hotspur in fifth.

Sunderland surprised everyone a fortnight ago by demolishing Chelsea 3-0 at Stamford Bridge in one of the best team performances of the Premier League season. However, that victory on the road was the exception rather than the rule.

Bruce’s men have won only two of their last 26 away games and will be hard pushed to get the full three points in London.

With Fulham poised to welcome back full-back Carlos Salcido from the ankle injury that kept him out of their 2-1 defeat at Arsenal last weekend, backing the teams to play out a draw at 9/4 looks to be well worth a bet.

A £10 bet on Fulham to draw 2-2 pays out £140. New customers can sign up here for a free £10 bet.
