Man City’s price out to 10/1 to win title after Everton loss
Published:Manchester City’s betting odds may have drifted from 7/1 to 10/1 to win the Premier League, but they should not be ruled out of the title race on the back of one off colour performance.
Although many people may argue that they bottled the opportunity to top the league standings before the start of the festive period, it was not ultimately that they played badly against Everton.
Instead, they dominated possession for virtually the whole encounter and were just missing that little bit of luck in the penalty box, with Tim Howard producing some good saves and some worthy penalty appeals being turned down.
It also did not help that Everton manufactured two shots on target in the whole 90 minutes, which both happened to end up in the back of Joe Hart’s net.
However, what did appear to be lacking was that togetherness and team ethic, as it appeared that it would be individual brilliance that was expected if they were to take something from the game.
Relying on individuals may not prove the most prudent approach by manager Roberto Mancini, as there will be times when certain players fail to deliver and a team display will be required to grind out a 1-0 success.
They may immediately get the chance to star as a team in their next Premier League outing, which is a trip to a Newcastle side that will be high on confidence after collecting a victory in their first game under new manager Alan Pardew.
Manchester City have managed to score twice in each of their last four showdowns against Newcastle, including when winning 2-1 at Eastlands in October.
