Cup victory leeds to promotion for United

| 06.01.2011

LEEDS UNITED are 20/1 with Ladbrokes to qualify for the 4th round of the FA Cup and go on to secure promotion to the Premier League.

Similarly, Cardiff are 9/2 to knock Stoke out of the cup and then to end up playing in the top division next season.

Should the third round of the FA Cup act as a negative turning point in the season then Manchester United are a team who could be put out of their stride and it’s 5/1 Liverpool dump them out of the cup and they then fail to win the Premier League.

In a weekend synonymous with upsets the bookies expect 2-4 Premier League teams will bite the dust and exit out of the competition (11/4). It’s 4/1 that seven teams are out and an unlikely 40/1 that we see 11 or more top-flight sides fail to progress.

Crawley Town, Dover and York City are the sole non-league sides left in the cup and none of them are expected to continue their FA Cup fairy tale as it’s 10/11 they are all out the cup at the fourth round stage. 50/1 is the price about all of them finding themselves in the next round.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “This is the most exciting weekend in the football calendar and we expect there to be a few upsets which could act as a catalyst for the league form of the succesful club. Can the fairytale story continue for the only surviving non league sides?”
