Realist Drogba wants sole focus on beating Bolton

Didier Drogba wants Chelsea’s primary thoughts on ensuring they beat Bolton in their next Premier League game rather than a focus on overhauling Manchester United at the top of the table.

Chelsea have drifted out to 8/1 in the Premier League betting odds to win the title after falling seven points off the pace and at present they are only one point inside of the Champions League qualification places.

Despite this relatively precarious position, much talk around Stamford Bridge continues to revolve around the end of the season, but striker Drogba insists the current situation requires developments to be taken one step at a time.

Drogba told Sports Illustrated: “First of all instead of thinking about winning the title we should think about winning two consecutive games.

“Then we’ll see. It’s not a joke, it’s true. That’s being realistic, and it shows how bad we’ve been doing for the last month and a half. It’s something that has to change.”

However, Drogba is confident that a corner has been turned, particularly as many of the first-team stars that have been troubled by injury in the early part of the season are now returning to full fitness.

Chelsea won for just the second time in ten league games when beating Blackburn in their most recent fixture and have not won back-to-back Premier League games since October.

Bolton have only lost one of their 11 home league games this season, but Chelsea’s betting odds are still 4/6 to leave with the three points.

Drogba can also do his bit to ensure of a victory by adding his name to the scoresheet – he is 4/1 to be the game’s first goalscorer and 1/1 to strike at any time within the 90 minutes.

A £25 stake on the scorecast of Chelsea beating Bolton 2-0 and Drogba scoring first would return £500. New customers can sign up here for a free £25 bet.
