Bet on number of goals rather than winners in Serie A

It is tough to call the winner as Inter Milan travel to Juventus, but one bet that is a little easier to predict is that the game witnesses a minimum of three goals scored.

Over 2.5 goals have been scored in six of Juventus’ last seven Serie A outings, while all of Inter’s last 11 league fixtures have seen at least three goals scored.

It is 4/6 in the Serie A betting that Inter’s clash with Juventus features a minimum of three goals.

Inter have won seven of their eight league games since Leonardo took over as manager and are 6/4 to beat Juventus, but they have lost three of their last five away games.

Juventus’ betting odds are 15/8 to beat Inter, although they have only won two of their last six home fixtures.

Furthermore, the Old Lady have only triumphed once in their last five league showdowns with Inter.

Elsewhere in Serie A, suspensions to Philippe Mexes and Nicolas Burdisso have left Roma short of defensive options and that could allow Napoli to land the spoils at 9/4.

The small defensive crisis could result in Daniele De Rossi being shuffled backwards from midfield and Napoli can take advantage of this.

However, with Roma still unbeaten at home this season and Napoli keeping clean sheets in their last ten games, perhaps the best betting opportunity is that the encounter witnesses under 2.5 goals.

It is 5/6 in the Serie A odds that fewer than 2.5 goals are scored, while 5/4 looks reasonable value that exactly one of the two teams manages to keep a clean sheet.

With Roma having scored at least once in all of their last 15 league fixtures, there is a strong case for them securing victory at 5/4.

The draw can be backed at 11/5.
