Bet on Torres to net debut goal against Liverpool

Martin Skrtel may have a tough time honouring his vow that Fernando Torres will not score against Liverpool as the Spanish striker is widely expected to make his first Chelsea appearance against his former club this weekend.

Torres signed for Chelsea ahead of their Premier League trip to Sunderland, but was given the game off to finalise his move, but is now ready to begin scoring goals that could take Chelsea to the title.

It is 11/10 in the Premier League betting that he scores against Liverpool and quickly gets the home support on his side, while further vilifying himself to the travelling fans.

Torres did score in his first home game upon signing for Liverpool, with Chelsea ironically being the visitors to Anfield.

However, whether Torres finds the target on not is largely dependent on whether he secures a starting berth.

Some would argue that if a club spends £50m on a new player then they will want to see him in action as soon as possible.

However, with Torres still settling in to life in London, the fact that he will be given a hard time by the Liverpool fans and that Chelsea’s forward three played so well at Sunderland, there is every chance he will be utilised from the bench.

Torres’ betting odds are 1/2 to be handed a start against Liverpool, while it is 13/8 that he makes his debut in the fixture as a substitute.

Meanwhile, Torres scored four hat-tricks during his Liverpool career and it is 20/1 that he immediately returns to haunt his former club with a treble against them at Stamford Bridge.

On the flip side, it is 100/1 that he gives his former supporters one final present by scoring an own goal for Chelsea on his introduction.

Chelsea’s betting odds are 8/13 to beat Liverpool, with the visitors 9/2 to take the three points.

A £25 stake on Chelsea beating Liverpool 1-0 would return £150. New customers can sign up here for a free £25 bet.
