Birmingham vs Man City – Birmingham to edge dour affair

Published:

Both Birmingham City and Manchester City struggled through FA Cup ties with lower league opposition on Saturday, and fans of both teams may have to struggle through Wednesday night’s tie.

Man City have just two wins to their name in their last six games and Birmingham have just one win in their last seven league games as the two sides hit a rocky patch midway through the season.

Match Odds

Only Arsenal and Everton have managed to take three points from St Andrews since November 2009, and as Birmingham continue to struggle at the bottom of the league, the draw looks the best bet at 12/5.

Manchester City are making their third successive trip to the midlands and are yet to take three points after drawing with Leicester, losing to Aston Villa and drawing with Notts County.

While Mancini’s men are favourites at 10/11, Birmingham offer the better value at 3/1 considering their home record but the draw still stands out as the most likely result.

Total Goals

With just 10 goals in 11 home games, new Birmingham signing Obafemi Martins will need to settle in quickly and he is 8/1 to get the first goal.

Man City have scored more goals away from home than they have done at home, but they have hardly been prolific and with Carlos Tevez a doubt, Edin Dzeko will be expected to fill the goalscoring void left by his captain – Dzeko is 7/2 to score first and 7/4 to score any time.

The 1-1 result is favoured in the correct score betting market at 11/2 and looks the most likely result and you can get 7/1 that either Birmingham or Man City come from behind and win.

You can also get 4/5 that both teams find the net and 8/11 for under 2.5 goals.

A £25 stake on Martins scoring first and the game ending 1-1 would return £1025. New customers can sign up here for a free bet worth £25.
