Everton shorten as relegation betting market hots up

EVERTON HAVE been cut to 14/1 (from 16/1) for relegation this season by Ladbrokes.

Following an away defeat at the hands of Bolton, David Moyes’ men have been trimmed for the drop in a congested Premier League relegation market housing three odds-on chances in the shape of Wigan (1/2), West Ham (4/7) and Wolverhampton Wanderers (4/6). Blackpool are also nudged to 5/4 from (6/4) with West Brom another side to come in for some support (6/4 from 13/8)

At the other end of the table Manchester United harden to 1/2 for the title leaving the Premier League looking like a two-horse race with Arsenal moving into 9/4 (from 5/2) and pulling away from Chelsea at 10/1 who are in action in Monday night’s live game.

It’s 4/5 Chelsea beat their West London rivals at Craven Cottage with 5/2 the price about the draw. Fulham are 7/2 to win the match and Moussa Dembele, Clint Dempsey and Bobby Zamora are the home side’s best chances of netting first as they all earn 9/1 quotes for the first goal. Didier Drogba and Fernando Torres are the joint 4/1 favourites in that market with 20/1 the price about a Torres hat-trick.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “Despite the relegation market housing three odds-on favourites there are several teams who are far from safe with the prices reflecting that. United and Arsenal are out on their own at the head of the title market and should Chelsea fail to win on Monday their price for the league will start to resemble that of Manchester City more than Arsenal.”
