Unknown Indian a great bet to upset the European Tour veterans

It may be a step up in class for Gaganjeet Bhullar, but there is no substitute for confidence in the world of golf and Bhullar is certainly not lacking in that department.

The 22-year-old has taken the Challenge Tour by storm in the opening months of 2011 and his win in the Gujarat Kensville Challenge was the first of three consecutive wins suggesting the rising Indian star is in the form of his life.

In the company of some of the best professionals from Europe, India and Asia, it’s not going to be easy for Bhullar to make it four wins on the trot, but the 25/1 for Bhullar to win this week is a huge price considering the confidence of the young lad.

Soren Hansen currently heads the Avantha Masters betting market at 16/1 and Australian Andrew Dodt (50/1) is looking to defend his title, but there isn’t much confidence in anyone in the market except for Bhullar.

It’s the sort of tournament where somebody with massive Avantha Masters odds can come through and take the title and Lee Slattery, at 125/1 to win, offers plenty of value after his top twenty finish in his last start.

Richard Finch finished second here last season and after his ninth-place finish in Qatar a fortnight ago, the Englishman offers punters plenty of value at 33/1 to win this week.

Oliver Fisher also produced a strong showing in this event last year and at 80/1, he offers plenty of each way value for punters and Ladbrokes are offering ¼ odds for a top five finish.

But it’s difficult to get away from Bhullar winning this week in what isn’t the strongest field, and his confidence coupled with his youthful exuberance makes him a great bet to win this week.

A £25 stake on Bhullar winning this week would return £650. New customers can sign up here for a free bet worth £25.
