Bet on in-form Lazio ending Roma’s derby dominance

| 12.03.2011

One of the biggest matches of the Serie A season has even more at stake than usual when Roma host Lazio in the Rome derby on Sunday afternoon, with both teams locked in a tense battle for Champions League qualification.

Roma are 13/10 favourites having won the last four collisions of Italy’s capital clubs under former boss Claudio Ranieri, while also in their favour is the fact Lazio are yet to beat them as the “away” side in the tie this century.

Despite that, it’s the Biancocelesti that head into the final meeting of the campaign in superior form and with a five-point advantage over their neighbours, who haven’t won any of their last four at the Stadio Olimpico.

Roma suffered their first loss under Vincenzo Montella in midweek as they were stuffed 3-0 by Shakhtar Donetsk and with Lazio on a run of three wins in four, they have to be fancied for at least a point at 11/5, if not all three at the same price.

Another price worth exploiting in the ESPN-televised encounter is the 2/1 on a penalty being scored as four of the five goals in the previous two clashes this season were netted from the spot, while Roma have converted four in three against Lazio.

Sunday evening’s fixture sees Napoli trying to keep their faltering title challenge alive when they visit relegation-threatened Parma, who start the weekend just a point above the drop zone.

The Gialloblu have been defeated only three times at the Tardini but Napoli have Ezequiel Lavezzi, the man whose absence coincided with their recent run of one win in three, back available so don’t write off Walter Mazzarri’s men at 6/4.

A £25 double on the Rome derby draw and Napoli triumph would provide a £175 profit. New customers can sign up here for a free £25 bet.
