Bet on Southampton to see off Wednesday challenge

| 18.03.2011

Southampton have been in brilliant form over the past few weeks and Sheffield Wednesday will have their work cut out trying to stop them this weekend.

The Saints have won their last three league games to move within five points of Huddersfield in second having played three games less. Southampton’s home record is even more impressive – they’ve only lost one game in the league at St Mary’s since September.

Meanwhile, the Owls have won just two of their latest 11 matches and lost their previous game against Peterborough United 4-1.

With Wednesday having just the 18th best defence in the league and Southampton the third best attack, backing the Saints to win at 1/2 looks a safe bet. However, it’s also worth considering putting some cash on a 3-0 win for the south coast side at 9/1.

Oldham Athletic v Brighton

Runaway League One leaders Brighton have enjoyed a brilliant season so far and have only lost three games since Christmas. They have won their last four on the bounce and boast the best away record in the division.

Oldham however, are in a dreadful run of form. They haven’t won in nine games and have lost their previous four. With two teams in such different form, it’s hard to see beyond a win for Brighton at a very tempting 11/10.

Notts County v Bristol Rovers

Bottom-of-the-table Bristol Rovers face a tough task to get their season back on track against Notts County.

Rovers have won just two of their previous 11 matches, losing the other nine. They also have worst away defence in the league – it looks like Notts County will come out on top in this one at 4/5.

A £20 stake on Brighton to win 2-0 would return £140. New customers can sign up here for free bets worth up to £60.
