France vs Wales – French to set record straight

Published:

France have been fairly dominant against Wales in the Six Nations in recent years, particularly at home, and they will have a massive point to prove following their hurtful defeat to Italy in their last game.

Match Odds

The loss to Italy was France’s first ever against the opposition and has surely ensured that coach Marc Lievremont is one defeat away from the axe.

Therefore, Lievremont should have no trouble getting his team up for the encounter, with France’s betting odds 3/10 to beat Wales.

A defeat would not only bring to an end Lievremont’s tenure as coach, but would also mean that France finish the Six Nations with four points, their worst campaign since 2001.

Wales have not enjoyed the best time against last year’s Grand Slam winners in recent times, losing four of their last five matches against France and not winning in Paris since 2005.

However, depending on England’s result in Ireland, there is an outside chance that they could lift the Six Nations trophy.

Wales are 11/4 in the Six Nations betting to beat France and continue to build confidence ahead of the World Cup later this year.

First Try Scorer

The loss of Shane Williams to a knee injury is a big blow to Wales and they will be relying on the rest of their backs for a moment of inspiration to sink the French.

Leigh Halfpenny is set to start on the wing for the Welsh and is 12/1 to be the game’s first try scorer, while teen sensation George North is expected to get the nod to replace Williams and can be backed at 14/1.

For France, Vincent Clerc was one of a select few to emerge from the Italian debacle with any credit and is the favourite to score the first try at 7/1.

A £20 stake on France’s Yoann Huget being the first try scorer would return £200. New customers can sign up here to take advantage of free bets totalling up to £60.
