South Africa shorten for Cricket World Cup success

SOUTH AFRICA have been cut to 7/2 by Ladbrokes for the Cricket World Cup.

In response to the knockout stage draw, the firm have cut the Proteas to 7/2 (from 4/1), shifting England out to 9/1 in the process.

India remain the 3/1 market leaders and take on Australia, with the co-hosts the 8/13 favourites to win the tie. It’s 5/4 the Australians progress to the semi-finals.

England are the 6/4 underdogs to beat Sri Lanka (8/15 for the match) with South Africa (2/5) the shortest price side to win their quarter final against New Zealand (2/1 for the match and 20/1 for the tournament).

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “We’ve cut South Africa for the tournament following the draw and expect them to come through their tie with rank outsiders New Zealand. Despite being good for turnover we’d also like to see the back of England and expect them to find Sri Lanka a tough nut to crack.”
