Hart’s Wembley form could be good FA Cup news for Man City
Manchester City are on the brink of reaching a first major cup final since 1981 and they will be hoping that Joe Hart can continue his fine record at Wembley to help them beat Manchester United.
Hart has represented England five times at Wembley and is yet to taste defeat, winning on three of these occasions.
He will be hopeful of extending this unbeaten run in the first all-Manchester clash at Wembley, with Manchester City 5/2 in the FA Cup betting odds to win in the 90 minutes and 5/4 to simply qualify for the final.
Hart said: “I have some good memories of Wembley, but I want better ones. I want some with City. Hopefully I will get two games there with them this season.
“It won’t be difficult to lift ourselves for Saturday’s game.”
Beating Manchester United will take Roberto Mancini’s team through to a Wembley final with either Stoke or Bolton and it is 9/4 in the FA Cup betting that Manchester City win the competition.
There is also the chance of a repeat of the 1926 FA Cup final between Manchester City and Bolton, which ironically materialised after City beat Manchester United in a semi final in Sheffield.
Manchester City will be happy with a repeat of the first half of this scenario, but will not want the same result in a possible final with Bolton, having lost 2-0 85 years ago.
Mancini has received some mixed injury news ahead of the trip to Wembley as Micah Richards is available to play after recovering from a hamstring injury picked up on international duty.
But top-scorer Carlos Tevez is definitely out and will not be available for a month after hobbling off with a similar problem in the recent Premier League defeat to Liverpool.
