Bury with one game in which to wrestle title away from Chesterfield

Published:

It’s not often that comparisons are made between League Two and the Premier League but Chesterfield have taken on the role of Manchester United and Bury are Chelsea ahead of the final game of the season.

Just a month ago Chesterfield were 11 points clear at the top of League Two with Bury languishing in fourth, 14 points off the leaders.

Many believed Chesterfield would cruise to the League Two title but as we enter the final game of the season Bury are just three points off the league leaders and both teams have a goal difference of 32.

With Bury having to win and Chesterfield needing just a point to secure the title, understandably the Spireites are 1/14 to win the league with Bury available at 6/1.

However both sides are playing teams who are in a scrap for the final play-off place and there are sure to be twists and turns in what is shaping up to be an incredible final day of the League Two season.

Chesterfield host Gillingham who are outside the play-off places on goal difference only and with Chesterfield priced at 6/5 to win, the League Two odds don’t suggest a host of confidence in the league leaders.

Gillingham were on a 16 match unbeaten run until losing two of their last three games and the Gills are 7/4 to take the three points on Saturday.

Bury travel to Hertfordshire to take on a Stevenage Borough side who are level on points with Gillingham but with a superior goal difference, and the hosts are 10/11 to beat Bury.

Bury are 11/5 to defeat Stevenage and should they win and Chesterfield lose, the title will go to Gigg Lane but with so much at stake in both games, the League Two finale is going to be a cracker.

A £10 stake on Bury winning the League Two title would return £70. Sign up here to take advantage of a free bet worth up to £30.
