French Open form continues to elude Nadal who goes odds-against

| 27.05.2011

A month ago Rafael Nadal was a shoe-in for the French Open title and was trading at 4/11 to win the tournament.

The Spaniard is searching for his sixth French Open title in seven years but having suffered two final defeats to Novak Djokovic, the Spaniards clay-court form seems to have deserted him.

Two stuttering wins in his opening two rounds of the French Open has seen Nadal’s French Open odds drift out to 11/10, and while many punters will be loving the Spaniard at such a big price, there are plenty of punters willing to take Nadal on.

Djokovic is currently trading at 11/8 to win the French Open and has breezed through his opening two rounds, helped by a retirement from Victor Hanescu in his match on Wednesday, and the world class form that Djokovic is showing doesn’t look like ending soon.

The Serb faces a real test of his abilities today when he faces Juan Martin del Potro in the third round in the match of the day at Roland Garros, but despite the fact DJokovic is up against a Grand Slam winner, he is still trading at 1/7 to win.

Should Djokovic sail past del Potro then you can guarantee his French Open odds will be cut, although it doesn’t get easier for the Serb who is likely to face Richard Gasquet (8/15 to beat Thomaz Bellucci today) in the last 16.

Nadal on the other hand sees his draw get easier after the exit of Nikolay Davydenko yesterday, and the Spaniard should breeze past qualifier Antonio Veic in his third round match at 1/100.

Despite his French Open odds drifting, Nadal is still the man to beat at Roland Garros and punters should prepare for another Nadal vs Djokovic final.

A £10 stake on Nadal winning the French Open would return £21. Sign up here to take advantage of a free bet worth up to £30.
