Wozniacki can waltz past Wozniak into French Open third round

Finding value in the early rounds of the French Open betting can often prove difficult and there isn’t much to be found with Caroline Wozniacki.

The world number one is 1/33 to beat Aleksandra Wozniak on Wednesday and having won six of her seven matches with the Canadian – Wozniak won the other by retirement – should have no problem in doing so.

However Wozniak has taken three sets off Wozniacki in three of those six defeats and punters can find value in backing Wozniacki to win 2-1 at 11/2.

Elsewhere punters should focus on the matches between Lucie Safarova and Julia Goerges, and Vera Zvonareva and Sabine Lisicki.

Lucie Safarova vs Julia Goerges

The form book suggests this is a closer match than Goerges 1/2 favouritism suggests.

Both players lost to Azarenka in the Madrid Open a fortnight ago although Safarova took a set off the world number four, and the Czech is 6/4 to beat Goerges on Wednesday.

Goerges surprised everyone when winning the Porsche Grand Prix a month ago and it’s that victory that makes her French Open odds so short.

But the two players share a win apiece when they’ve face each other and backing either Goerges to win 2-1 at 3/1 or Safarova 2-1 at 7/2 would return a tidy profit.

Vera Zvonareva vs Sabine Lisicki

Zvonareva is the 1/4 favourite to beat Lisicki and should do comfortably but the Russian’s price is short considering she is the world number three.

The two players have only met once before and Zvonareva ran out the comfortable 2-0 victor in last year’s US Open, and the Russian looks a great bet at 4/6 to win the match 2-0.

Lisicki has put in some strong performances against the top seeds recently but Zvonareva should have too much class for the world number 121.

A £10 stake on Wozniacki beating Wozniak 2-1 would return £65. Sign up here to take advantage of a free bet worth up to £30.
