16:25 Royal Ascot: Arsenal fans should latch onto Nasri

Published:

Saturday’s Wokingham Stakes at Royal Ascot is a real chance for punters to make some serious profit.

28 runners will fly down the six-furlong stretch of turf at Ascot and with Hoof It the current favourite at 7/1, there is plenty of value to be found in the Wokingham Stakes betting.

Favourites don’t have a great record in this race with the last winning favourite coming back in 1988, but watching the betting market is of all importance with the last two renewals being won by fancied horses landing the gamble.

Punters should focus on the four and five-year-olds with only one winning horse aged six or over since 1986.

The trends are strong for this race and punters are looking for a horse carrying between 8-11lbs and 9-6lbs, rated between 93-102 and a winner of a Class 2 race.

You should also be looking for a horse that won or place last time out, ran inside the last 50 days and has previously won over six or seven furlongs.

The draw is of all importance in this race and the best guide will be to watch how the runners of the Golden Jubilee Stakes pan out in the race beforehand.

Recent races would suggest a high draw is where your fancy wants to be and if so, David Nicholl’s Nasri (16/1) has an excellent chance from stall 29.

We’ve narrowed the field down to three chances, Nasri, Imperial Guest (20/1) and Swiss Cross (12/1) and of the three Nasri has the highest draw and should run a big race dropping back in trip after her third place at Ascot last time out.

However Swiss Cross is in stall four and will have the inside rail to run to, and after posting a time of 1m8.41s on Derby day in the Investec Handicap, he may just be the winner

Imperial Guest hasn’t won a Class 2 race as a four-year-old but did so as a two-year-old and with plenty of course form to his name, looks a big each-way price at 20/1.
