Day 10 Mens – Favourite Federer to crush Tsonga’s Wimbledon hopes6
Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has become the fans favourite over the past three weeks of the grass court season but he may meet his match in Wednesday’s quarter-final.
Roger Federer is the king of Wimbledon and there are many who would love to see the six-time Wimbledon champion renew his rivalry with Rafael Nadal in a bid to win his seventh.
The world number three is the 1/6 favourite to beat Tsonga on Wednesday and with a dominant 4-1 head-to-head record over the Frenchman, including two wins this year, it’s the safe bet.
Tsonga has been in magnificent form thus far dropping just the one set to Grigor Dimitrov but in his four defeats to Federer, the Frenchman has failed to win a set.
However Tsonga’s serve has been a huge weapon for the Frenchman in this tournament and this won’t be a walk in the park for Federer with the 4/6 for a tiebreak in the match looking a strong bet.
Federer is 12/5 to win 3-1 but the world number three is also 5/1 to lose the first match and win the match like he did in the fourth round against Mikhail Youzhny.
Tsonga has the ability to cause an upset but with the form Federer’s in it would be unlikely, but there is the potential for a scare.
Novak Djokovic vs Bernard Tomic
Tomic comes into this match boasting something not a lot of tour professionals have over Djokovic – an unbeaten record against the Serb.
They may have only met once before but the raw talent of the 18-year-old should not be overlooked and while Djokovic is the likely winner at 1/10, there’s the potential for a scare here.
Tomic is a 6/1 chance to win this match but the Australian offers plenty of value in the handicap betting at 11/10 with a start of +6.5 games.
Djokovic may have dropped just one set so far but Tomic has the arrogance of youth on his side and will take the game to the world number two.
It’s 11/10 there’s a tiebreak in the match and that looks the pick of the market
