Day 10 Mens – Murray to motor past Lopez into Wimbledon semi

Published:

Judy Murray may have grabbed the headlines in the build-up to Andy Murray’s quarter-final with Feliciano Lopez on Wednesday, but it’s Andy who will take the plaudits post game.

Judy’s infatuation with “Deliciano” has led to Ladbrokes opening a number of Wimbledon specials and you can get 10/1 that Lopez blows a kiss in Judy’s direction on centre court tomorrow.

While there will be plenty of opportunities for Lopez to wind his opponent up, the Spaniard won’t find many game winning opportunities against Murray who is 1/10 to advance to the semi-final tomorrow.

Murray and Lopez has met on four occasions and Murray has won all four ties, three in straight sets and one in three sets.

The two have never met in a Grand Slam tournament but there are 40 places separating Murray and Lopez in the rankings and the Scot should have no problem waltzing into the semi-final.

Punters can get 4/7 that Murray wins 3-0 but the real value of the market is the 10/11 for under 35.5 games in the whole match.

Rafael Nadal vs Mardy Fish

Fish is in a similar position to Lopez whereby he has never beaten his quarter-final opponent, and considering Nadal’s incredible record both against Fish and at Wimbledon, this should be a walkover for the world number one.

Injury worries mean Nadal is 1/4 to beat Fish but having been passed fit on Tuesday, punters should ignore the foot injury and focus on the gulf in class.

The two have met twice on grass, once at Queens and once at the 2007 Wimbledon championships and Nadal won both of those matches in straight sets.

There previous meeting was at the 2008 US Open when Fish took the first set before Nadal won 3-1 and while you can get 5/1 that Nadal comes from behind to win, the value looks to be backing Nadal to win in straight sets at 10/11.
