Four winners on day one, who said Royal Ascot betting was tough

Published:

News.ladbrokes will continue trying to provide winning Royal Ascot bets over the coming days after getting off to a flyer with four winners from the six races on the opening day of the meeting.

Canford Cliffs (11/8), Frankel (30/100), Power (4/1) and Veiled (11/2) were all correctly called on the opening day, while punters backing Overdose (14/1) each way in the King’s Stand Stakes would have been paid out as he finished fourth.

The only let down was Rent Free in the final race, but it was no real surprise that the horse failed to make the frame in the Windsor Castle Stakes as he was sent off as an unfancied 66/1 outsider.

Frankel landed the big odds-on money on day one and we see no reason to believe that So You Think will not do the same for punters at Royal Ascot today.

So You Think is 2/5 in the Royal Ascot odds to win the Prince of Wales Stakes and given the effortless way that he has won his two races so far since joining the Aidan O’Brien yard from Australia, it is hard to see him not completing the hat-trick.

Another potential banker looks to be in the Queen Mary Stakes, despite seven of the 14 runners still yet to taste defeat.

However, 5/4 chance Shumoos was mightily impressive on her only start to date when bolting clear to win by almost five lengths and this form has been franked since as the runner-up Frederick Engels triumphed in the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot yesterday.

Our other Royal Ascot tips for today are Havane Smoker (9/2) in the Jersey Stakes, Jacqueline Quest (25/1) in the Windsor Forest Stakes, Simple Say (16/1) in the Royal Hunt Cup and Humdrum (9/2) in the final race, which is the Sandringham Handicap.
