Rio Ferdinand is 8/1 to help Chelsea star down the aisle

| 16.06.2011

Frank Lampard’s engagement to his girlfriend Christine Bleakley was confirmed on Wednesday afternoon and Ladbrokes have wasted no time identifying ways for you to try to make money from the happy couple’s big day.

There are numerous markets available to bet on relating to the wedding, with one of the most interesting ones offering you the opportunity to predict who the Chelsea midfielder will select as his best man.

Blues captain John Terry is the favourite at 2/1, a price that puts him marginally ahead of Lampard’s cousin Jamie Redknapp at 3/1 and his club team-mates Ashley Cole and Didier Drogba at 5/1, though the standout option is Rio Ferdinand at a massive 8/1.

Lampard has been friends with his England colleague since childhood and they both broke through the West Ham youth setup and England senior team at similar times, and he might be reluctant to follow Fabio Capello’s lead and dump Ferdinand in favour of Terry!

Counting against the Manchester United defender though is the fact that he didn’t enlist Lampard to help him out when he wedded Rebecca Ellison, instead turning to brother Anton Ferdinand.

More comical candidates to get the gig include ex-fiancee Elen Rives’ new squeeze Peter Andre at 33/1 and Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich at 66/1.

If picking the best man doesn’t take your fancy then you can have a go at picking the venue, with a ceremony anywhere in the UK outside of Northern Ireland the 1/5 frontrunner.

There is reason to consider taking that on though given that cousin Jamie got wedded to Louise in Bermuda and pal Rio jetted off to Peter Island in the Caribbean, and as a result Barbados appears to be a decent investment at odds of 8/1.

It is 4/7 that they tie the knot this year despite Bleakley’s agent claiming that no plans have been made yet, while you can get 5/4 on their first child being born in 2012.
