The Insomniac – Ortiz defeat the obvious bet for UFC 132

| 02.07.2011

Ranging from the first ever UFC Bantamweight title fight to what could be the last time Tito Ortiz is seen in the UFC, UFC 132 promises to be full of defining moments and a big event for sleep-deprived punters.

The Insomniac is largely looking forward to developments and is convinced that Ryan Bader should have no problems handing a defeat to Ortiz.

Although Ortiz remains one of the most recognisable names within the UFC, his most recent record is abysmal, failing to win any of his last five fights since 2006.

On the other hand, Bader won his first four UFC contests before his defeat to Jon Jones in February.

The former Ultimate Fighter winner is 2/11 in the UFC odds to beat Ortiz and anything other than an emphatic victory would do little for his UFC stock and therefore he has more to lose than gain from this fight.

Elsewhere on the card, a good old-fashioned punch up can be expected between Wanderlei Silva and Chris Leben and with both fighters reaching their twilight years, the person who lands the first shot is likely to secure victory.

Wanderlei should have the slight speed advantage and the better all-round tools, which makes him the worthy favourite at 4/7.

Leben’s best chance will be if the fight turns into a brawl and he is 29/20 to secure victory.

The UFC Bantamweight title bout is between Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber, two men who have no love lost for each other.

Cruz has only ever lost once in his career, which happened to be inside 98 seconds to Faber in another organisation and this should lead to fireworks in the Octagon.

The Bantamweight champion is the 2/3 favourite in the UFC betting to get revenge for this defeat and should be able to utilise his unorthodox takedowns to retain his title, probably by unanimous decision.
