The Safety Net – Starbound to carry on Wimbledon run
Starbound should be able to give the Safety Net Bet a fifth straight victory today and ensure that our bank balance sits at over £200 again.
We had a productive end to Wimbledon, correctly identifying late last week that Maria Sharapova and Rafael Nadal would be successful in their respective semi-final showdowns with Sabine Lisicki and Andy Murray.
However, with Wimbledon now over for another year and little in the way of sport today, we return to horse racing in search of our next £20 winner.
Starbound runs in the Sporting Signs Maiden Stakes at 15:30 at Brighton and has been found a great opportunity by trainer William Haggas to earn a first victory.
In the last five years at Brighton, Haggas has run eight three-year-old horses and four of these have been successful.
Meanwhile, seven of the last nine favourites have triumphed in the maiden contest and four of these have been sent off odds-on.
Starbound is 4/9 in the horse racing odds to secure victory and therefore we will be staking £45 in order to meet our daily goal of winning £20.
She finished second on her latest start on the all-weather and a repeat of this display on turf will make her tough to beat, particularly as she has far more experience than all barring one of her rivals.
The booking of Ryan Moore to ride Starbound for the first time is another positive, while Powder Keg looks the only rival capable of mounting any sort of a challenge.
Today’s stake: £45
Best case scenario: £200.50
Worst case scenario: £135.50
Last Safety Net bet: Rafael Nadal to beat Andy Murray @ 1/2
Wealth warning: although we are confident the safety net bet’s strategy will be profitable over a period of time, the nature of sport means we cannot guarantee you will win every single time.
